Cairn

Never out of reach.

Set it down where the grid ends. Cairn keeps you connected and tells you what the weather is doing for days at a time.

Cairn: a rugged unit with two antennas and a screen showing it’s bonded, 72°F, 60% humidity, 8 mph wind and the hourly forecast, next to a folding solar panel

What it does

Connected. Informed.
Anywhere.

Every connection at once

Combines cellular, Wi‑Fi and Starlink into one steady connection, just like Latch.

Satellite backup

When there’s no signal at all, you can still send and receive messages. It’s never fully dark.

Live weather

Wind, rain, temperature, humidity, lightning nearby and smoke in the air, right where you are.

Days on solar

Plug in the folding solar panel and walk away. Cairn keeps running without an outlet.

Alerts that matter

A clear screen and the Key app show signal, weather and battery, and warn you when something changes.

Works as a team

Set out several Cairns and they link up to cover a whole property, camp or event.

Who it’s for

For people who live and work
past the last cell tower.

Ranches & farmsStay connected across the whole property and see weather changes as they happen.
Off‑grid homes & cabinsReliable internet and a weather station in one, with no utility hookup needed.
Campgrounds & trailheadsGive staff and visitors a way to check in, even where phones don’t work.
Outdoor eventsConnect festivals, races and pop‑ups that set up far from town for a weekend.
Field researchKeep remote study sites online and logging conditions around the clock.
Community fire watchWatch wind, smoke and lightning locally, and pass the word along when it matters.

Where we’ll test it

Proven outside,
not just in a lab.

We plan to put Cairn in the toughest places we can find in the American West.

Southern California backcountry

Wildfire season

Heat, smoke and dry wind, where staying connected and informed matters most.

Mojave Desert

Extreme heat

Days over 110°F, blowing dust and no cell coverage for miles.

Sierra Nevada

Snow and mountains

Freezing nights, short winter sun and peaks that block the signal.

Pacific coast

Fog and salt air

Constant moisture, wind and corrosion along the shoreline.

How we’ll test it

We measure. Then we publish.

01

Side by side with a phone

Same spot, same networks. We record which one stays connected.

02

Left alone for weeks

Running on solar in the field, with nobody touching it.

03

Checked against the pros

We compare weather readings with official weather stations nearby.

04

Results made public

We share what we measured, including what didn’t work yet.

Follow Cairn from
first test to launch.

Get field test results as they come in. Run a ranch, camp or field site? Tell us, and you could help test it.

Cairn is in development. Everything on this page is a design goal, and test plans may change.
