We get a lot of the same questions from business owners who are new to cybersecurity. Here are honest, easy-to-understand answers to all of them.
Not at all. We handle every technical step from beginning to end. Your only job is to use the tools we set up for you. If you can send a text message, you can use everything we deploy. We also provide full team training so everyone on your staff is comfortable before we step back.
We have a real conversation about your business. We ask about your team size, how you currently communicate, what kind of data you handle, and what your biggest security concerns are. Based on that, we give you an honest assessment of your risks and a recommendation for the right plan — with zero pressure to sign up. The consultation is always free and commits you to nothing.
For Starter and Shield plans (software-only), most setups are complete within 3 to 5 business days. Fortress and Black Site plans that include physical hardware typically take 1 to 2 weeks from the time you sign up, depending on shipping and scheduling. Rush setup is available for an additional fee if you need to move faster.
No long-term contract is required to start. You pay month to month and can cancel anytime. If you choose to sign a 2-year agreement, you receive 10% off your monthly rate and we waive the one-time setup fee entirely. The choice is always yours.
Yes. Antivirus software protects against viruses and malware on a single device. What Covenant Ghost provides is fundamentally different: encrypted communications so your messages cannot be intercepted, a private network so your operations are invisible to outsiders, and a monitored infrastructure that actively watches for threats. These things antivirus software cannot do. They solve different problems.
Encrypted messaging means that every conversation your team has — text messages, file transfers, voice calls — is scrambled in a way that only the sender and receiver can unscramble. If anyone intercepts it, they see unreadable noise. Right now, standard text messages, emails, and popular apps like Slack or WhatsApp can be intercepted. For businesses handling client data, financial information, or anything confidential, encrypted messaging is essential protection.
A regular VPN routes your internet traffic through a shared server and simply hides your public IP address. Our private mesh network (built on WireGuard protocol) creates a completely sealed, encrypted tunnel that connects your entire team — across all their devices — in a private network that is invisible to the outside world. It is much faster, much more secure, and designed specifically for business use, not consumer privacy browsing.
Yes. Everything we deploy works on desktop computers, laptops, iPhones, Android phones, and tablets. Every device your team uses can be connected and protected. We handle the setup on each device and walk each team member through how to use it during training.
The Mobile Cyber Lab is a physical piece of hardware — a ruggedized, pre-configured device that contains your entire secure communication and network infrastructure in one portable unit. It can operate completely offline, off-grid, without an internet connection. It is designed for businesses with high security requirements, field operations, multiple locations, or emergency continuity needs. Think of it as your entire secure IT system in a box you can take anywhere.
No. On Starter and Shield plans, we handle server hosting for you. On Fortress and Black Site plans, you have the option of a dedicated private server that we manage. On the Black Site plan, we can also set up a fully air-gapped (no internet connection) infrastructure for maximum security. You never have to manage any hardware or servers yourself unless you specifically want to.
Your monthly fee covers active management of your security infrastructure, software licensing and updates, ongoing monitoring (on Shield plans and above), and access to support at the response time tier of your plan. It does not cover the one-time setup fee, which is charged separately when you first sign up. See our pricing page for a full breakdown of what each plan includes.
No. We are completely transparent about pricing. The only costs are your monthly subscription fee, the one-time setup fee (which we waive if you sign a 2-year agreement), and any add-ons or upgrades you choose. We will never add charges without telling you first and getting your approval.
Absolutely. You can upgrade your plan at any time. We prorate the cost difference for the remainder of your billing cycle. Many clients start on Starter or Shield and move up as their team grows or their security needs change. There is no penalty for upgrading.
Month-to-month clients can cancel at any time with 30 days' notice. We will help you transition out cleanly and safely — that includes helping you export any data you need to keep and guiding your team through the transition. We do not make cancellation difficult or charge unexpected fees.
We consider discounts on a case-by-case basis for nonprofits, early-stage startups, and businesses in industries we want to support. Reach out directly and tell us about your situation — we will always have an honest conversation about what we can do.
We recommend transitioning your team fully to the encrypted system for any sensitive business communications. You can continue using consumer apps for personal use, but for anything business-related — client information, internal strategy, financial details, personnel matters — the encrypted system should be the default. We help you make this transition smoothly during the training phase.
We can remotely revoke access for that device immediately. Your secure network and messages remain safe because access is tied to verified credentials, not just the device itself. We will re-provision access for the team member's new device quickly. This is one of the key advantages of a managed system over a consumer app.
Consumer encrypted apps like Signal are better than texting, but they are not designed for business use. They lack centralized admin control, audit logs, user management, device revocation, dedicated infrastructure, or any form of IT management. Covenant Ghost gives you a fully managed, business-grade encrypted communications system where we maintain control, security, and support on your behalf.
No noticeable impact. The private network protocol we use (WireGuard) is one of the fastest and most efficient available — often faster than a standard VPN. Encrypted messaging adds no meaningful load on devices. Most clients report that the new tools actually feel faster and more reliable than what they were using before.
Contact us immediately — call or text 943-262-4521. Every client has access to emergency support. We will triage the situation, contain the threat, begin incident response, and walk you through exactly what is happening in terms anyone can follow. Do not wait or try to handle it yourself. The faster you reach us, the better the outcome.
Response times by plan: Starter — within 48 hours for standard issues; Shield — within 24 hours; Fortress — within 12 hours; Black Site — within 4 hours. For emergency situations (active breach or critical system failure), all plans have access to emergency response outside standard windows — contact us immediately and we will prioritize.
Yes. After any security incident, we provide a clear, jargon-free incident report that explains what happened, how we responded, what data (if any) was affected, and what steps we have taken to prevent a recurrence. This documentation is important for your own records and may be required for insurance or compliance purposes.
You can always reach us by phone, text, or email. Support tickets are not required. If you have a question — big or small — just reach out and we will help. That is what the monthly fee covers: real, accessible support whenever you need it.
No. The encryption we deploy is end-to-end, which means messages are only readable by the sender and the intended recipient. Not by us. Not by the server. Not by anyone else. Even in the event of a data request, the messages themselves are unreadable. Your communications are private — period.
Never. We do not sell, share, or monetize client data in any form. The information you share with us — about your business, your team, your setup — is used only to serve you. This is a core principle of how we operate and it will not change.
We store account information (contact details, billing information, plan details), configuration information about your security setup, and support history. We do not store the contents of your encrypted communications. Everything we store is disclosed clearly when you sign up, and you can request a full data report at any time.
Our Fortress and Black Site plans are designed to support compliance requirements for regulated industries including healthcare (HIPAA), financial services (GLBA), and legal. We can discuss your specific compliance needs during your consultation and configure your deployment accordingly. Compliance is not guaranteed by the technology alone — we will advise you on the full picture during onboarding.
If your question is not answered here, just reach out. We are always happy to have a real conversation — no pressure, no sales pitch, just honest answers.
